4 passi fra le nuvole

You probably will remember 'A walk in the clouds', the 1995 film directed by Alfonso Arau and starring Keanu Reeves, Giancarlo Giannini, and Anthony Quinn, as you did probably not forget that awesome serenade tune sang by Reeves for a beautiful Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, composed by Leo Brouwer (music) and Alfonso Arau (lyrics).

What many of you probably do not know is that 'A walk in the clouds' is the remake of a marvellous Italian drama film titled '4 passi fra le nuvole', directed by Antonio Blasetti and starring Gino Cervi, Aldo Silvani, Giacinto Molteni and Adriana Benetti.

The movie is considered the precursor of neorealism in Italy and is worth watching for many reasons.
If you like italian neorealism this title cannot be missing from you personal videotheque, because of its historical importance. With 'A walk in the clouds' it surely shares the plot, but the similarities end here. Setting and scenography are those of a 1942 Italy, it is not a sentimental movie disguised as a drama like the 1995 American remake, nor a stage for the confrontation of big and overwhelming and out of line personalities. The film is an example of harmony and equilibrium, all the actors are unforgettable, You will be surprised by the staid atmosphere and the beautiful old soundtrack, and you will not be flattered by a convenient ending.
